Legacy Student Ministry

» The Ministry

We believe that teens are amazing, that God can use them to change the world. But teens must be developed and taught to live by the Spirit. That takes more than a fancy program and a flashy personality. Three myths interfere.

Myth #1: Student ministry is a job.
This is the mistake of the soldier in 2 Timothy 2 ministry is a missional life, not a job. The bad soldier seeks to separate his life into the ordinary and the holy, the civilian and the obedient. While we honor the protection of home and family, we believe that all areas of a believer's life must function in the realm of the holy and not the ordinary. Student ministry is a lifestyle.

Myth #2: Student ministry is easy.
This is the mistake of the athlete, ministry is difficult and requires dedicated training. The lazy athlete searches for a shortcut, for little accountability and instant success. We believe that God can use students to change the world and those who guide them must train diligently. Student ministry is deep.

Myth #3: Student ministry is temporary.
This is the mistake of the farmer, ministry is long-term and sustainable. The foolish farmer spends himself on the harvest and fails to enjoy the fruit. We believe that the minister must stick around for the harvest. This requires the development of new laborers and planning for the future. Student ministry is long range.

We train missional youth ministry leaders to develop Kingdom difference makers. That takes a missional life in Christ, a diligent ethic for ministry,  and a patient development of people.
